British Airways And Solena To Invest $300 Million For Biofuels Power Project In UK

Deal Summary

British Airways Plc, an international airline company and Solena Group, Inc., a renewable energy producer, announced to invest $300 million for the construction and development of waste-to-biofuels plant to be located in Dagenham, UK.

The total installed capacity of the project will be 40 MW. The plant will also utilize around 1,500 tons of waste every day to produce about 16 Mmgy of biofuel.

Of the generated electricity, 50% will power the plant and the remaining 50% will be injected into the grid. The construction of the project is expected to start by 2011 and to be operational between the beginning and middle of 2014.
