Sud-Chemie AG, a company engaged in manufacturing of chemicals, announced to invest EUR28 million ($35.91 million), for the construction and development of large-scale bioethanol demonstration plant to be located in the vicinity of the new Bavarian BioCampus in Straubing, Germany.
The total project includes an investment volume of around EUR16 million and accompanying research projects amounting to EUR12 million.
The plant will utilize agriculture waste and will produce about 2,000 tons of bioethanol fuel. The project will receive subsidy of EUR5 million each, by the Bavarian State Government and Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project is expected to be operational by the end of 2011.
