Renewable energy technologies have now become the “talk of the town”. Building on a foundation of the oldest alternate energy sources such as hydropower, biomass combustion and geothermal power, new forms of renewable energy began to be developed and commercialized, including solar, wind, and several forms of advanced biopower. These technologies not only utilize locally available resources, they also offset the need for costly fuel imports; and are environmentally beneficial, without the harmful emissions of conventional energies; provide diversification to a country’s energy mix; and create local job and income opportunities.
Barclays Bank ranked as the top financial advisor in Q1 2009. The advisory firm acted as advisor for 35 deals worth $5.94 billion in Q1 2009. PE/VC saw a decrease in total deals, reporting 65 deals in Q1 2009 compared to 117 deals in Q4 2008. Further, partnerships contributed 15% of the total deals with 55 deals in Q1 2009.
