Terra-Gen Power Considers Wind Power Project In Roosevelt County, New Mexico

Announced Date :  Mar 02, 2011

Terra-Gen Power LLC (Terra-Gen Power) is considering a wind power project in Roosevelt County, pntonline.com reported. The wind project is being considered with a minimum capacity of 150 MW in the first phase. The project may start commercial operations in January 2013. Terra-Gen Power is presently conducting negotiations over the project.
Bill Castor, vice president of development in the Terra-Gen Power office, Denver, said that it may take 60 to 90 days to get more clarity on the project. He said, “A project of this magnitude will bring on the order of 200 construction jobs.”

Castor added that the 150 MW capacity of the project is a conservative estimation. He said, “I think the potential for that to be significantly larger exists.”

Terra-Gen Power selected Roosevelt County due to the availability of abundant wind, community support, and access to the transmission system of PNM. Castor said, “We’ve been working on the site for a little over three years.”
