The National Power Corporation (Napocor) has signed a contract with Enertime SAS (Enertime) to develop 22 to 42 MW biomass power projects for its small power utilities group (Spug) in off-grid areas in the Philippines, malaya reported. Currently, both companies focus on conducting feasibility studies, which would last for three months. The proposed biomass facilities would run on various agriculture feedstock and waste. "Capacity requirements are rather small. To me, that’s the beauty or the value of adapting renewable energy because it’s readily adaptable for small loads," said Napocor President Froilan Tampico. Both companies are in discussions on how thy would share the cost of power generation.
For this project, Napocor is considering to receive financial support from International Finance Corporation, an unit of the World Bank.
