Kenmec Mechanical Engineering Co. Ltd. (Kenmec) has entered into solar PV modules manufacturing and solar PV system installation services, and is expecting to receive solar PV installation contracts up to 3-5 MWp in 2010, digitimes reported. In 2009, the company has received several PV system installation contracts with a total capacity of 3 MWp in Taiwan. In fulfilling these contracts, Kenmec took the advantage of relatively low costs of polycrystalline silicon solar cells delivered by its subsidiary, Tainergy Tech Co., Ltd. (Tainergy Tech).
According to Frank Hsieh, the chairman of Kenmec, Tainergy Tech has used its annual production capacity of 60 MWp at a yield rate of 98%, with energy conversion rates of solar cells standing at 16.3-16.4%. In Taiwan, Tainergy Tech is increasing its annual generation capacity to 240 MWp by the end of 2010, with large portion of equipment being supplied by Kenmec. In addition, Tainergy Tech is establishing a new factory with annual capacity of 800 MWp in eastern China which would be completed in 2011.
