Two solar projects electrifies India's BIAL

Announced Date :  May 19, 2017

India's Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) will be electrified with two solar projects commissioned by Bosch Ltd.
One solar project with a capacity of 440kW has been developed in airport’s car park area and other project of capacity 2.5MW was set up at the airport's airside.

BIAL said, "Both projects - jointly - will reduce carbon emission by 3125 tonnes per annum (3075 tonnes of CO2 emission per annum at the airside and 550 tonnes of CO2 emission per annum at the car park area). The project is being implemented by Bosch Limited."

The two solar projects will produce about 4.4 million units of electricity every year. BIAL will be able to meet 12 % of its energy needs through solar power.

BIAL, President (Airport Operations), Hari Marar said, “We aim to achieve 50 per cent of our energy needs through renewable power in the next 3 years. We will continue our effort to look at newer methods to operate our business in an ecologically sustainable environment."
