General Electric May Acquire 49% Stake in YPF Energia Electrica from YPF

General Electric Company, a diversified company, intends to acquire 49% stake in YPF Energia Electrica S.A., a power generation company, from YPF SA, a company engaged in exploration, development and production of crude oil, natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas, as reported by Clarin, a local newspaper.

YPF launched the subsidiary YPF Energia Electrica in 2013 after acquiring assets from Pluspetrol S.A., an Argentina-based oil and gas company, which spun off its electric generation business. At the time, the value of the spun-off assets amounted to USD485 million, according to YPF filing.
